School Age Swim Lessons



Nautilus
Wonderful world of 3-year-olds! 3:1 ratio. Nautilus are typically getting in the water for the first time or working on overcoming apprehension to the water and/or lessons without mom and dad. Safety and comfort are the focus for our brave 3-year-olds. Skills practiced include separating from parent, happily navigating the water, blowing bubbles, big breath, eyes in, and assisted floats and rolls.
Jellyfish
Jellyfish are ready to get in the pool (maybe for the first time) and learn the basics! Big breath, eyes in, comfort in the water, safety skills, and when they’re ready, some basic movement including kicking, paddling, and bobbing. Jellyfish will also be assisted with back float, tummy floats, and prone float glides.


Sea Otters
Sea Otters will start learning formal freestyle arms and kicks, while extending their breath count. Sea Otters should be already comfortably putting their face in, holding for 10 seconds and doing basic kicks and paddling with arms, and rolling with assistance from prone to back to prone while propelling through the water.
Harbor Seals
Harbor Seals have strong foundational kicks, are able to perform productive arm strokes with an out-of-water recovery, and proficient rollover breathing for 20’. We’ll introduce side breathing in preparation for formal freestyle, improve backstroke, and introduce whip kick.


Orcas
Orcas have mastered side-breathing and have the foundation of backstroke. We’ll add bilateral breathing for freestyle, refine the overall freestyle stroke to competitive but efficient form, introduce long-axis rotation to backstroke, and start breaststroke.
Blue Whales
Blue Whales have excellent freestyle and backstroke and will continue to refine both as they work on mastering breaststroke and butterfly as well.

Swimmers will extend their breath count as they progress and learn how their own body responds in the water with rhythmic breathing

Balance and Buoyancy
Through play and drills, swimmers will become comfortable in any body position in the water as they prepare for formal

Basic and Advanced Strokes
From basic paddling to butterfly, rollovers to competitive freestyle, swimmers will progress through all formal strokes.
